Glendale, Az (April 2019)
As part of the Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow initiative, each quarter Ombudsman recognizes educators who take learning to the next level by engaging their students in a 21st century hands on or collaborative manner. These are educators who strive to make learning meaningful by pushing students to be inquisitive and work beyond the basic curriculum.
3rd Quarter Winner – Berlyn Schulte, Charter West (Glendale, Az)
Our third quarter winner is Berlyn Schulte, English Teacher at Charter West. Most days of the week you can find her English classes participating in Jeopardy style games and using tablets to engage in classroom discussion. In her classroom you can also see a student accountability system in place, aimed at monitoring student use of inappropriate words. Thank you, Ms. Schulte, for your innovative teaching methods and commitment to Arizona’s students!
Editor Note: It’s the end of the school year, which means West will be home to our traveling trophy for the remainder of the year. Another campus will be eligible to claim it in first quarter of next school year. Nominations can be made by contacting Associate Superintendent Michael Goto.
