SAN PABLO, Calif., Jan. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Spectrum Center Schools & Programs announced today it is hosting two hiring events and plans to hire 50 special education instructional aides in January for the Greater Bay Area. The ideal special education instructional aide candidate is interested in making a difference by helping children and adolescents with autism and behavioral disabilities develop the skills they need to be independent while working for an organization with a social mission to offer hope. Special education experience is not required.
Spectrum offers a comprehensive educational program for school-age students with autism, emotional/behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and other disabilities which require focused academic, behavioral, communication, therapeutic and transition services. Spectrum Center offers quality, research-based, data-driven programs that help students reach their full potential.
Spectrum is a division of ChanceLight, Therapy and Education, which provides behavioral health and special and alternative education to students nationwide. Spectrum has 22 schools throughout Northern and Southern California.

- Jan. 15, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Spectrum Tara Hills Campus: 16330 San Pablo Avenue, San Pablo, CA 94806
In addition to hiring in Fairfield and San Pablo, Spectrum is also seeking instructional aides in the Oakland area. Applicants interested in working in Oakland, or any other Greater Bay Area location, should attend one of the two hiring events listed above.
Spectrum offers special education instructional aides full- and part-time positions, competitive compensation, seven weeks paid school closure and opportunities for advancement. Spectrum also offers a full benefits package to full-time employees working 30 hours a week or more that includes medical and dental coverage, a 401k retirement plan and life insurance.
Special education instructional aides assist with group and individual instruction in the classroom and the community to help implement students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEP). An IEP is a document that is developed for every child in a public school district who requires special education.
The position requires a high school diploma or a GED and the job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide instructional support to teachers and special education students
- Assist students with tasks like eating, using the bathroom, riding the bus and transitioning classrooms
- Customize lessons to fit individual student needs and assist students with challenging assignments
- Monitor and record students’ progress or behavior
- Assist teachers with lesson planning
